EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
• Describe the mechanisms of action of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
(MRAs)
• Discuss the evidence for steroidal MRAs (sMRAs) in HFrEF and the challenges
associated with their use
• Explain similarities and differences between nonsteroidal MRAs (nsMRAs) and
sMRAs
• Interpret the clinical trial evidence for sMRAs and nsMRAs in patients with
HFmrEF and HFpEF
