21501_The Dynamics of In-Hospital and Post-Discharge ACS Management with Oral Antiplatelet Therapies

Jeffrey Anderson, MD, Van de Werf,MD and Marc Sabatine MD, discuss timing/location, dosing, duration of oral antiplatelet therapies, clinical trials, and guidelines.

This educational initiative will address the overall need for improved management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients with oral antiplatelet therapies. Efficacy and safety of oral antiplatelet drugs in the in-hospital management of ACS patients will be discussed, with new ACS guideline recommendations presented.  In addition, recently released data (AHA 2014) from studies investigating the duration of oral antiplatelet therapy post-hospital discharge will be interpreted, with recommendations provided for prudent use of oral antiplatelet therapy in long-term management for prevention of reucurring adverse cardiovascular events.
